Personal Trainer Singapore

Losing weight is undoubtedly a hard task. There are among us who can definitely confirm to this fact. No matter how many diets we start, how many exercises we do, and how many weight loss therapies we undertake, losing weight is difficult. (Unless of course if you engage a personal trainer *wink*)

But who makes losing weight difficult. The onus lies on us and our attitude. If we modify our attitude and accept weight loss as part of the lifestyle, we can definitely make losing weight as EASY as it never was!

Let’s elaborate.

Have you ever been in situations where you had to perform any chore or obligation and you felt the least inclined to do so? Let’s admit, we all have been in this situation one time or the other. We groan and become irritated with the unwanted task at hand and complete it without putting in an honest effort. We feel resentful and unhappy to do whatever you did and by the time you finish the task, you are probably drained and tired.

Why does this happen?

This happens because of our attitude. When you approach a goal with “I don’t want to do this” or “Why should I do this?” attitude then you make completion of that goal harder on yourself. The feeling is similar to dragging a concrete block over a dirt track. There is so much resistance when the concrete moves against the platform but if the surfaces were smooth then the block would glide over the surface smoothly. Isn’t it?

This is the same case with weight loss. Our attitude determines the outcome of our actions. When we are frustrates, bored, stubborn, disinterested and unhappy, it’s like digging in your heels and in return, you feel a lot of resistance. We make no progress and we are stranded to the point where we started. But if we were to accept the situation, lighten up, and approach the goal from a relaxed state of mind then the progress is much easier.

With this argument in mind, let’s take a look at the 3 ways which makes losing weight easy.

1. Keep Telling Yourself That Losing Weight Is An Easy Process

You create a negative self – fulfilling prophecy when you tell yourself “how hard it is to lose weight!” or “I cannot lose weight”. It’s like passing a judgment even before you begin with the weight loss process. As a result, you are not only dissatisfied with the outcome but it leaves you frustrated also. But you can create a positive self – fulfilling prophecy when you say things like “Weight loss is easy”, “I can follow the weight loss regime forever”, “I enjoy eating healthy foods” or “I like to work out daily”. These things create a positive attitude in you and you begin to believe in these uttering eventually.

2. React To Weight Loss Challenges Positively

Challenges are an intrinsic part of weight loss programs. If you want to make weight loss easy then you need to deal with the challenges positively. Your response or reaction to them is most crucial. If you become irritated, de-motivated or frustrated seeing the hurdles in your way, you can never overcome the challenges. Instead if you take them in your stride and work out a solution to move through the problem, there won’t be any problem. Remember that challenges only seem to be worse but they are not so. It depends all on our perception and how we deal with them.

3. Commitment Towards Weight Loss Is Essential

Lack of commitment and devotion towards attaining weight loss is one of the prime reasons for making the weight loss difficult. Even when we sincerely want to lose weight but resist making changes in our habits or we want to get into good shape but resist doing any form of exercises, what we are doing is committing ourselves to weight loss but only half-heartedly. When you are fully committed, you won’t have a hard time making all the necessary changes in your lifestyle and henceforth, you begin to make constant progress.

So, what did we learn? Making weight loss easy lies in our mindset only; keep telling yourself that losing weight is easy and keep moving forward in the pursuit, you will definitely reach your goal.
