You’ve Got No Time For Exercise? What About 4 Short Minutes?

We’re always rushing for time aren’t we? Singaporeans are known for their busy, hectic lifestyle. Busy, busy, busy! Rush, rush, rush!

Well, what I’ve got to say is amidst all this paper chase, sometimes we forget what we’re living for.

Yes, we want a better life, more money and time to spend with our loved ones. But what’s luxury at the expense of our health. The ‘Health is wealth’ phrase is so clichéd and can be a turn off at times but it really holds true deep inside our hearts.

We do know the importance and we do know the consequences of not taking care of our bodies. But we’d normally just shut it, put it aside and PROCRASTINATE!

OK. The purpose of this post is not to lecture you readers but is more of a quick start, a catalyst to those who always give the reasons of not having enough time to exercise. Try this workout once or twice a week for a start.

It only takes 4 minutes each time. Yes, you’ve heard it right. Not 14 minutes, not 40 minutes but 4 minutes. (But please ladies and gentlemen, this workout is only when you’re pressed for time. It is NOT a be all and end all program you should stick to for the rest of your life. A good and balanced, workout program would require you at least 30 minute, 3 times per week.)

All right, here it goes.

This is a famous workout call the Tabata workout. It’s a simple yet effective metabolism booster.

1) Pick an exercise whether it’s a squat or a push press (see video)

2) Perform the exercise for as many repetitions as possible for as fast as you can for 20 seconds

3) Rest for 10 seconds

4) Repeat whole process 7 more times.

That’s it!

In case you want a clearer picture, watch the video below and try it NOW!

I have timed it in accordance to the 20sec work and 10sec rest times. Enjoy!

NOTES:

  • Remember to do the exercises as fast as possible but with good form.
  • Complete each rep with full body range of motion.
  • Hydrate yourself
  • Perform a 5min warm-up prior to the workout (Yes the warm up is longer than the actual workout! You’ll understand why once you’ve actually tried it)

  2. Is this your first try at video?

If so, you’re way ahead of me.

One small suggestion – move the camers in to see the subjects better.

    Good luck in the program
