Oklahoma City Mayor On The Ellen Degeneres Show

Oklahoma City is one of the fattest cities in United States Of America. Mayor Mick Cornett challenged his city to lose one million pounds in 2008. He was invited on the Ellen Degeneres Show to talk about “This city is going on a diet.”

Mayor Mike Cornett led Oklahoma City by example, lost the pounds himself, advocate exercise and healthy eating.

To this date, Oklahoma city has lost eight thousand pounds so far and counting.

Now in other health related news;

” Obesity ‘epidemic’ turns global”

According to BBC health news dated last october, the world is getting FATTER! Now excess weight is a pandemic, inevitably creating higher risk of heart diseases, type II diabetes and other diseases including some cancers.

Gone are the days when United States Of America (US) was the world’s worst culprit in weight problems. Currently with obesity rates being the highest in South Europe, followed by Canada and a ticking time bomb issue in Asia, especially China; It puts the rest of the world close to par with the US.

In Singapore, the top two killer diseases are Heart diseases and Cancer. Heart diseases and Cancer are attributed by many factors such as smoking, diabetes, hypertension (high blood pressure), high level of stress and lack of exercise. However the major factor that contributes to the susceptibility of the top killer diseases in Singapore and in the world is currently – Obesity (especially around the abdomen)!

With this being a worrying trend in the world, governments and Mayors like Oklahoma City Mayor, Mayor Mick Cornett are taking whatever measures possible to reduce this pandemic which could last generations after generations.

Children as early as 7 years old are being diagnosed with diabetes due to unhealthy eating habits of the main staple food source of french fries and burgers.

Now after reading what I have to share, we can either TAKE ACTION or have a bad track record with the rest of the world. We can either TAKE ACTION or see our children and grandchildren die young.
